workshops & masterclasses

Marieke graduated from the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming Tilburg as a first-grade teacher in Textiles. She taught Textile and Art Education at ‘De Montessori Pabo’ at ‘De Hogeschool van Amsterdam’ and, as co-founder and teacher, gave form and content to ‘ KinderKUNSTFABRIEK’ . She was also a coordinator at cultural centre ToBe in Dordrecht.

In recent years, Marieke has been focusing more and more on her making practice, and in 2020 she joined The Linen Project’s Linen Stewardship. This stewardship has brought her back to the essence of how she wants to work: create and inspire. At the same time it brought her back to teaching and education.

Since 2022, Marieke has been associated with the Farm to Fabric to Fashion master’s at Polimoda in Florence. In a 2-week intensive course she immerses students in the world of flax: the approach to the material, the processing, the freedom of experiment and the way these processes are valuable in interpersonal contact. A short introduction into the principles of Linen Stewardship is part of this.

In addition, Marieke gives workshops and master classes, gives space to students and others who are interested to experience her way of working in her studio.

In February 2024, she gave a 1.5-day workshop to students of the minors Body Interventions and Entangled obsessions at Maastricht Institute of the arts as part of introduction week.

Please contact me if you are interested in a workshop or a masterclass.
